Ambitious young skateboarder Rizu Akama showed off her skills in Murakami on Monday, as she set her sights on winning the olympic gold.
Akama could be seen doing tricks in a local skateboarding facility with father Ryuji Akama watching from the sidelines.
Having practiced as a surfer, Akama’s father had originally encouraged his daughter to share in his passion, with led her to pick up her skating hobby.
“What makes her different from other people is that Rizu is good at doing things that the other people around her don’t do, moves that are hard to do. So, being a little different from others, yes, having her own ‘hue’ is the best weapon,” said Akama’s father.
Speaking on her future goals, Akama stated that her dream is to achieve first place in the 2024 Paris Olympics ‘so that everyone in the world will know what my skateboarding is.’
