Fedor Emelianenko defeated American Timothy Johnson at Bellator 269 in Moscow. The fight took place overnight Saturday into Sunday.
The Russian mixed martial arts fighter knocked out his opponent at the 106 second of the first round.
“Performance he had today was unbelievable. At 45 years old the speed in which he threw those punches and the combinations that he come with,” said CEO of Bellator MMA, Scott Coker, after the fight.
He also pointed that Emelianenko has every chance of taking the top spot in the Bellator 269 tournament if the fighter continues to compete.
Emelianenko has not revealed his plans to continue his career: “I’ve passed all the pressure, thank God, and we’ll continue to prepare quietly, and then we’ll see.”
Emelianenko remarked that fighting at his age can be dangerous to his health, and the athlete wants to take an active part in raising his daughters. He said that he would decide together with his family on the continuation of his career.
