It rained heavily in Yalta and Kerch for several days, which reached Sochi yesterday. The authorities predict that if the elements rage, the residents will have to be evacuated. A month’s worth of precipitation fell in Sochi in a day. The Herota and Matsesta rivers overflowed their banks, and the water streams carried away cars, felled trees, and destroyed seaside cafes. On the famous dam in Sochi, you can’t swim because of tornadoes; the hospital’s first floor was flooded, as were several houses in the city center.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has already reported that three people are considered missing. Two people were injured - a tree fell on them during a downpour.

The operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory has warned residents that it is necessary to collect things in case of a possible evacuation. Due to prolonged heavy rainfall in the Adler and Khostinsky districts of Sochi, there is a critical rise in the level of the Herota and Matsesta rivers. Siren-speech installations are included to alert the population about possible flooding and the likelihood of rivers overflowing their banks. Residents are asked to remain calm and prepare documents and essentials if the situation forces an evacuation to begin.

Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Veniamin Kondratyev has already said that residents of flooded areas can be accommodated in temporary accommodation centers due to worsening weather conditions.

“We must be prepared for any development of events to avoid tragic consequences. It is necessary to prepare for the evacuation of residents from possible flooding sites, including in other areas of the region, if necessary, and deploy temporary accommodation centers with a three-day supply of food, ”Kondratiev said during the meeting.
