Russia: Long lines as Muscovite voters head to polling stations

Voters lined up outside a polling station near the central Arbat street in Moscow on Friday on the first day of Russia’s parliamentary elections.

According to the Russian capital’s election officials, the queue outside polling station number 9 appeared after a large number of soldiers arrived to cast their ballots.

Russians go to the polls between September 17-19 to choose members of the State Duma, the lower house of the parliament, as well as members of 39 regional parliaments and nine regional leaders.
