Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that in the capital about 50 percent of voters took part in the State Duma elections, Sunday.
“Moscow shows unprecedented activity: around 50 percent of voters came and elected. Thanks to them for that. The elections were unusual in Moscow. For the first time, there was remote voting on a large scale, which passed all the tests: technological, DDoS attacks, and it has proven to be reliable,” Sobyanin said in the headquarters of the United Russia party support group.
The mayor also thanked all Russians who took part in the elections and noted that two million Russian people voted electronically for the first time.
According to the CEC, after processing 25.18 percent of the protocols, United Russia leads with 44.35 percent of the votes on the list to the State Duma. It is followed by the KPRF (22.27), LDPR (8.48), Just Russia (7.31), and New People with 6.57 percent of the voters.
Russians went to the polls between September 17-19 to choose members of the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, as well as members of 39 regional parliaments and nine regional leaders. Voters have elected 450 State Duma deputies in total, via Russia’s mixed electoral system. Half has been selected from party lists in one federal constituency, with the other 225 elected in single-mandate constituencies under the first-past-the-post voting system.
