Russia’s position on the settlement of the Palestinian problem remains unaltered, President Vladimir Putin told his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas, in Sochi on Tuesday.

“The Palestinian problem must be resolved in accordance with the decisions previously taken at the level of the United Nations Security Council,” Putin said at the bilateral meeting.

The Russian leader added Moscow was actively supporting Palestine to fight COVID-19, including sending medicines, vaccines, and medical specialists to the country.

He went on to say that trade turnover between the countries has increased.

“Our absolute turnover figures are still small, but still we are seeing an increase, despite all these problems, by more than 30 percent over the previous year,” Putin said.

Abbas in his turn thanked Putin, saying “we always appreciate your role, your position [towards] us, the Palestinians.”
