Over 40,000 evacuees from Donbass have arrived so far on the territory of the Russian Federation, according to an announcement on Sunday by the acting head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) of the Russian Federation Alexander Chupriyan.

According to the ministry, 92 temporary accommodation facilities for evacuees have been established in Russia.

People were seen on Sunday morning being received at an evacuation camp near the Matveev Kurgan automobile checkpoint, located more than 100 kilometres (62 miles) northwest of Rostov-on-Don.

Earlier, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, announced the evacuation of civilians to Russia to avoid their getting caught in the crossfire if fighting continues to break out.

Kiev and the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics have accused each other of ceasefire violations and shelling in recent days. The OSCE has confirmed numerous breaches of the ceasefire regime in recent days.
