Russia: "Scared chicken" - Khabib Nurmagomedov taunts rival Conor McGregor

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov shared his less than flattering opinion of Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor, speaking with reporters during a press conference in Moscow on Wednesday.

“Conor [McGregor] fought with a Cowboy [American Donald Cerrone], looked like a lion. He comes out against normal [opponents] and looks like a scared chicken. Top competitors show what you are worth,” the Russian fighter said.

Khabib Nurmagomedov said that he has already been a UFC shareholder for a month.

The UFC lightweight champion also shared his plans about opening his own MMA schools in Russia and abroad. “I’ve just arrived from Abu Dhabi, I’m opening my school there. It will be the largest in Abu Dhabi, about three thousand square meters [in area]. The opening will most likely be at the end of December,” Nurmagomedov said.

He added that he is going to open schools in some Russian cities – he wants to open a school in Moscow, and he also has an agreement to open schools in Kazan and in Krasnodar.

Khabib also shared his opinion on including mixed martial arts fights in the Olympic Games programme. He considers it’s possible but it is necessary to establish certain rules and restrictions, as in boxing, for this.

“It is a pretty tough sport. I think there should be some restrictions, rules. Of course, it would be possible to include [MMA in the Olympic Games programme] simply for the reason that it is more interesting than karate or curling, for example,” the fighter commented.

“There are a lot of reasons to include it in Olympic sports,” Khabib added.
