Russia: Shoigu questions counterpart Wallace on British special forces presence in Ukraine

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu has asked his British counterpart, Ben Wallace, to explain the presence of the UK’s special forces in Ukraine during a meeting in Moscow on Friday.

“I would also like to understand why Britain, the kingdom, sent its special forces to Ukraine and until when they will be there,” Shoigu asked.

The Minister added that the Russian side is ready to share its resources to reduce tensions on the Ukrainian east.

“We would also like to offer our contribution to reducing these tensions and stopping the supply of weapons to Ukraine. On all sides, it is going on. It is being done publicly. It is being done in a demonstrative manner.”

The minister drew attention to the fact that the level of Russian-British cooperation was close to ground zero and expressed hope for negotiations “without any escalation and raising the temperature even higher” regarding dealings between Russia and the NATO bloc.
