Russia: Taliban delegation arrives for Afghanistan talks in Moscow

A Taliban delegation arrived at the President Hotel in Moscow, where the third meeting of the Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan will take place on Wednesday.

The delegation, led by Deputy Chairman of the interim government of Afghanistan Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, entered the hotel building without comments to the media.

During the meeting, the Taliban reportedly intends to ask the participating countries for economic and political support, as well as to discuss security problems in the region.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, representatives of 11 states will attend the event in addition to the delegation of the Taliban movement representing Afghanistan. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will also address the meeting participants.
