Russia: Walk-in Sputnik Light vaccination centre opens in St Petersburg

St Petersburg citizens on Wednesday commented on the possibility to receive the one-shot Sputnik-Light COVID-19 vaccine at a walk-in vaccination tent located at the park of the 300th anniversary of St Petersburg.

The vaccine has been offered at the site, which works daily between 1 pm and 7 pm, without the need for an appointment since July 27.

One person waiting to get her jab, Kristina Neznanova, said she found out about the COVID-19 vaccination in the park from local TV news.

“Very convenient [vaccination point], no need to wait in line at the hospitals. The vaccine here is Sputnik Light, it is done once. This is very convenient, and I decided to get [a shot] here,” the girl said.

Another St Petersburg resident waiting for the vaccine, Viktor, commented that “People have problems when they want to make an appointment to get vaccinated in hospitals or when they want to sign up for vaccination with the Public Services Portal because there are very few appointments”.

According to Russia’s coronavirus task force, St Petersburg has registered more than 530,000 COVID-19 cases and nearly 20,000 coronavirus-related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
