Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said a Ukrainian draft law on dual and multiple citizenship resembled the ‘worst practices’ of apartheid, in comments made at a press conference in Moscow on Wednesday.
“This law is [one of] the worst practices, the worst practices of segregation, apartheid, the list can be enumerated. Deformity that humanity was forced to endure. How is it possible for the political leadership of a European state to return to this?” she stated.
The draft law reportedly may seek to reduce citizens’ ties with the Russian Federation.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also commented on an allegation by the NATO secretary general that a Russian proposal for a moratorium on the deployment of intermediate and shorter-range missiles in Europe was not credible.
“It seems that these statements of his are those that we should question,” she stated.
In addition, Zakharova stressed that the situation in Ukraine continues to be a matter of concern for Moscow. “First of all, we are talking about the militarisation of the country, the violation of human rights and the Ukrainian conflict in Donbass of course,” she said.

SOT, Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson (Russian): “The development of the Ukraine situation continues to be a matter of concern, to say the least. First of all, we are talking about the militarisation of the country, the violation of human rights and the Ukrainian conflict in Donbass of course. The NATO member-states are expanding military equipment supplies to Ukraine, training its servicemen, they do not do this for the purpose of some mythical task of maintaining stability and security, but in order to simply pour oil on flames and give an even greater scale to the ongoing civil war in the country.” *MULTIPLE SHOTS AT SOURCE*

SOT, Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson (Russian): “About the Vladislav Klyushin case - we are deeply disappointed with the Swiss Federal Department of Justice and Police verdict of the satisfaction of the US request for the extradition of a Russian citizen to the United States. We must note that Swiss law enforcement agencies ignored lawyers’ arguments about the political component of the case and groundlessly rejected the counter request of our country’s Prosecutor General’s Office.”
SOT, Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson (Russian): “Recently, the secretary general of this [NATO] alliance Stoltenberg again questioned our country’s proposal for a moratorium on the deployment of intermediate and shorter-range missiles in Europe. As he said, these proposals are allegedly not trustworthy. It seems that these statements of his are those that we should question.”
