A few words about the last Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg. The Ukrainian press dubbed it a failure. But what kind of fiasco can we talk about when the summit was attended by representatives of delegations from 49 of the 54 independent countries of the African continent? And every third representative of the delegation is a president or prime minister. In addition, the head of the African Union and the head of the African Intergovernmental Bank came. In other words, the solid people of Africa have come. So this is definitely not a fiasco. Russia has long been “perching” in Africa, and the Soviet Union has always been a friend of Africa and provided them with maximum assistance.
What is the continent interesting and why does Russia pay so much attention to it? Firstly, the African continent is a treasure trove of rare earth metals, precious stones and various minerals. Secondly, it is a huge market, as about 1.5 billion people live in Africa. Third, geopolitics - the African continent has been destroyed by white men for centuries: slave trade, plundering of countries, ruthless exploitation of the population, genocide, deception. Recent examples include the “Grain Deal,” which was pushed through under the good cause of providing grain to Africa’s starving population. As a result, only 3% of the grain got there. Out of 30 million tons of grain, only 1 million tons and that was it! The rest of the grain went to the rich, well-fed countries of Europe and Asia. So, on a genetic level, Africans are definitely not allies of the White West. In any case, there has been a war for almost a year and a half, and none of the African countries have joined the coalition that supports Ukraine, conventionally - the Western coalition. In general, Russia’s interest in Africa is traditional, in the normal sense mercantile, geopolitical, and Russia continues to increase cooperation with the countries of this region.
