‘Sarah Everard Vigil: Four Arrested in Parliament Square Ahead of Debate on Policing Bill’

Four people have been arrested after a vigil for Sarah Everard in Parliament Square.

One man remains in custody after being arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency services worker and three others were held for breaching Health Protection Regulations.

There was a markedly different police response to that scene on Clapham Common on Saturday night - not far from the scene of Sarah Everard’s disappearance.

Police have faced widespread criticism for its heavy-handed tactics at another vigil for the 33-year-old woman, killed as she was walking home.

Everard went missing on the night of the 3 March. Her body was found at a disused leisure facility in Kent a week later.

Metropolitan Police constable Wayne Couzens is being held by police on suspicion of kidnapping and murder.
