Richards rescue story

I was at the coffee shop on a Saturday and I saw a flyer for a local adoption fair and just decided to check it out. When I got there, I saw this scared cat curled up in a ball. When I came over to him, he looked up at me and I saw that he had two different colored eyes. He was so sweet and so gorgeous. I asked to hold him and he just melted into my arms. The shelter told me that someone had surrendered him along with his sister, but the sister had gotten adopted earlier that day. So he was all alone now. I don’t know why his previous owner surrendered him, they didn’t say. So I took him home. I named him Richard.  When I adopted him, he was almost two years old. And now he’s 10 years old. 

These days, Richard spends his time relaxing out in his catio we built for him. He loves getting as many chin scratches from us as he can. Richard is the best. He’s a patient big brother to our eight month old daughter who adores him. From my experience adopting Richard, I really recommend people consider adopting an adult animal. The adult cats and dogs at the shelter don’t get as much attention as the puppies and the kittens, but they’re really cool animals and their personalities are already formed. Richard is just the coolest, chillest, most awesome cat and there are a lot more cool cats out there at shelters, just waiting for their forever home.
