A truck driver is in police custody after driving into a crowd of protesters on a closed interstate near Minneapolis.

He was beaten by protesters before police officers arrived to arrest him. It did not appear that any demonstrators were hit by the truck as it sped through the crowd on the westbound lanes of Interstate 35, honking.

The freeway was closed to traffic at the time. Witnesses said the truck driver was dragged out of the cab of his tractor-trailer rig and beaten by protesters before he was taken into custody by Minneapolis police.

The protesters were demonstrating against the death of George Floyd.
