Shocking footage from 2018 has emerged showing a Belgian police officer giving a Nazi salute while a suspect is forcefully restrained.

Jozef Chovanec from Slovakia was arrested at Charleroi airport in 2018 after causing a disturbance while boarding his flight.

A group of officers detained the man after he started banging his head against the wall of his cell.

A policeman sat on his chest for 16 minutes while another officer can be seen laughing and giving a Nazi salute.

The man died the next day in hospital, his family are calling for a fresh inquiry after these images emerged.

It’s reported the female officer who made the offensive gesture has been suspended from operational duties.
