Singer and actress Natalia Oreiro receives Russian passport during ceremony in Buenos Aires

Multidisciplinary artist and UNICEF Rio de la Plata ambassador Natalia Oreiro received a Russian passport from Russian Ambassador to Argentina Dmitri Feoktistov during a ceremony at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Buenos Aires on Wednesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin granted Natalia Oreiro citizenship after signing a presidential decree published on 25 October.

“[I am] very grateful, very moved, like few times in my life” declared Oreiro, adding “I really consider this a cultural bridge between Russia and the Rio de la Plata, I feel it is also a huge act of love from them to me and from me to them as well.”

The artist received the Russian passports she requested for herself and her son, Merlin Mollo Oreiro, 9, from the Russian ambassador to Argentina, Dmitri Feoktistov.

A film and soap opera actress, Natalia Oreiro is a very popular artist in the Russian Federation, where she has performed and toured extensively.
