Luka Doncic announced his five year $207 million (€176.6 million) ‘supermax’ contract extension with the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday in his hometown of Ljubljana.

“I still don’t know what to say because I never imagined this happening. I was only dreaming of playing in the NBA and now I can sign an extension with the Dallas Mavericks for five more years,” Doncic stated.

Owner Mark Cuban said, “when we drafted Luka in 2018 we had an inkling he was good but we never imagined he was this good and that’s the culmination of a lot of hard work on Luka’s part.”

The supermax contact is the maximum amount a player can earn, 35 percent of a team’s salary cap, in accordance with the NBA’s salary cap rules.
