A fire which was thought to have been brought under control at South Africa’s parliament building in Cape Town on Sunday, re-started on Monday to affect the structure which was already left gutted by the first blaze.

The number of firefighters had been scaled back on Monday after the fire was seemingly brought under control. Leftover hotspots from the initial blaze are believed to have re-sparked the flames.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of starting the fire.
