Michael Carrick led Manchester United in his new capacity as the club’s interim manager during a training session held on Monday in Villareal.

Manchester United is set to play in Spain against Villareal in a Champions League match to be held on Tuesday.

The match will be Manchester United’s first encounter with Carrick at the helm as caretaker, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure from the club.

Players Paul Pogba and Raphael Varane will not be taking part in the upcoming due to injuries, while Luke Shaw has been also left behind from the line-up due to a concussion protocol.

COVID-19 has also affected the team, with Mason Greenwood testing positive for the virus.
