Spain: EU leaders visit welcome hub for Afghan evacuees near Madrid

A delegation from the European Union, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, visited a welcome hub for Afghan evacuees at Torrejon Air Base, near Madrid, on Saturday.
The delegation was greeted by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, as they were facilities which will be used to welcome and process people evacuated from Afghanistan in the wake of the Taliban takeover of the country.
