Spain: Femen activists hold protest against far-right march in Madrid

Femen activists staged a protest in front of Madrid’s Government Delegation building on Tuesday, following the body’s authorisation of a far-right march which took place last Saturday.

The activists displayed their bare torsos with painted-on slogans such as “legal Nazism, national shame” and “it’s not freedom, it’s protected fascism.”

According to local reports, Saturday saw hundreds march through the streets of Chueca, one of Madrid’s most diverse neighbourhoods, while chanting homophobic and racist slogans. Far-right symbolism was also said to be displayed, along with sightings of salutes being made.

The Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the events that took place during the march.
