Spain: Forest fire forces evacuation of nearly 600 people in Malaga

Ground and aerial troops were trying to contain the flames that were still active early Thursday morning in three different outbreaks in the Sierra Bermeja in the province of Malaga.

Around 600 people have been evacuated from their homes as a precautionary measure.

The fire-fighting operation involves 250 ground troops, two amphibious planes, and seven helicopters.

The cause of the fire, which has spread over 2,160 hectares, is still unknown.

The strong gusts of wind are hampering the extinguishing work affecting the municipalities of Jubrique, Estepona, Genalguacil, and Benahavis.
