Tanker aircraft were seen refuelling jets during exercise maneuvres over the Canary Islands on Thursday.
French and Spanish tankers and a NATO-managed Airbus A-330 Multinational Multirole Tanker Transport Unit (MMU) were seen taking off, flying, and landing as part of the annual European Air Refuelling Training (EART) exercise. F/A-18 Hornets fighter aircraft docked with the tankers while the tanker crews adjusted the hose in flight.
The manoeuvre training was led by the European Air Transport Command (EATC), an organisation formed by seven NATO countries, and supported the Spanish-led Ocean Sky 2021 fighter exercise.

SOT, Officer: “Multinational tank unit was born several years ago with several nations wanting to participate and having the idea of building up a unit which consists of multiple nations with one goal - having the ability for aerial refuelling, passenger transport and cargo transport.”
