A controlled implosion demolished a 1,000ft chimney at an old power plant in Alabama.

Crews used explosives to topple the massive smoke stack at the site of the Widows Creek Fossil Plant along the Tennessee River.

The plant, located about 65 miles northeast of Huntsville, closed five years ago, and now the Tennessee Valley Authority is preparing the site for redevelopment as part of a $66 million project.
