Welcome to Spreadsheet Day, where we celebrate all things Excel and spreadsheets! In this video, Sheriff Buford T. Justice is here to remind us of one important rule: never merge cells. As much as it pains him, he cannot arrest his coworkers for this common mistake. But as Excel experts, we know the true travesty of using merged cells and why it’s important to avoid them.

Merging cells may seem like a harmless shortcut, but it can cause major issues in your spreadsheet. It can mess up formulas, make it difficult to sort and filter data, and even cause errors in your data analysis. Sheriff Buford T. Justice may not understand the technicalities, but he knows that merging cells is a recipe for disaster.

So instead of taking the easy way out, let’s follow the Sheriff’s advice and use the Center Across Selection feature in Excel. This allows us to visually merge cells without actually merging them, keeping our data clean and organized. And on this Spreadsheet Day, let’s make a commitment to never merge cells again.
