Anger against Sri Lankan leaders blamed for leading the country into worst economic crisis in decades has reached its peak.

Violent clashes raged in the capital, Colombo, finally forcing Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to resign after months of clinging to power.

Demonstrators are now calling for the resignation of his brother, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, to bring an end to the family’s political dynasty.

Thousands have gathered for over a month in front of Rajapaksa’s office until a strict curfew was imposed, but hundreds continued to resist.
