State of Palestine: At least one dead in anti-blockade night protest in Gaza

One man was fatally shot and five more were injured, as violent clashes broke out between Palestinian protesters and Israeli soldiers close to the border fence of the Gaza Strip, Thursday, in the latest in a series of nightly protests held against Israel’s blockade of the territory.
Protesters could be seen lighting bonfires near the border and filling them with tyres, whilst Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters over the fence to disperse the gathering.
According to Palestinian health officials, a 26-year-old demonstrator died after being shot by Israeli soldiers near Jabaliya, in the northern Gaza strip.
The Israeli military alleged that explosive devices were hurled from the Palestinian side across the border, leading them to fire live rounds in response.
Palestinians have staged nightly protests along the Israeli fence over the past week to express anger at Israel’s blockade of the territory, who cite Hamas threats as the reason for the restrictions.
