State of Palestine: Gaza faced with 25,000 tons of dangerous electrical waste

A director at Gaza’s Environmental Quality Authority warned on Thursday that used batteries deposited in storage piles posed a danger to the environment.

According to an estimate made by the authority, the waste in such sites, some of which are outdoor-based, amounts to a worrying total of 25,000 tons.

Faced with an ongoing blockade, exports of the electrical waste from the Gaza Strip are not permitted.
