Ethiopian refugees were seen living in a tent camp in Sudan after fleeing the Tigray war with the Amhara region also affected by the fighting between the Ethiopian government forces and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), Abu Zarad, Saturday.

People were seen doing their daily chores like washing clothes and cooking in the open air, with queues seen lined up to receive food.

“Many people died and we ran away, and we do not know who died and who survived. I saw with my own eyes ten bodies, and they had different weapons like tanks. I do not know their names in Arabic,” said Ethiopian Borhano Gabriyal.

According to media reports, thousands of Ethiopians fled into Sudan just in the past two weeks.

SOUNDBITES:

SOT, Borhano Gabriyal, Ethiopian refugee (Arabic): “Ethiopian soldiers came, and we told them… the Popular Defence of Al-Amhra, they came and burned all the houses and entered with tanks, and this was the first time that tanks appeared.”
