Sudanese protesters have blocked critical oil pipeline routes, to demonstrate against a peace deal the transitional military government is trying to pass with opposition groups, as seen in Sinkat and Port Sudan, on Saturday.

The protesters blocked the entrance to Port Sudan, disrupting the flow of imported crude oil towards capital Khartoum.

Members of the Beja tribes could be seen demonstrating in Sinkat with knives and sticks. Many members have blocked the supply route in protest against the peace deal.

The government has said there is enough supplies to last for up to 10 days.

Several arrests have been made following an attempted coup that failed last week. The government said those involved were loyalists to former President Omar al-Bashir. The country is still in an economically and socially precarious situation, despite international support being extended following the ousting of Bashir.
