Sweden: Military performs drills in central Stockholm

Military personnel could be seen setting up barricades around the Parliament House in central Stockholm on Saturday.

The exercises are part of a larger training operation by the Swedish ‘Life Guards’ battalion involving 400 troops throughout the country’s capital.

“We are the battalion of the guards regiment, we normally do guard duty at the royal palace, but we also have to train our operational tasks, and our operational tasks are to provide security to all government buildings,” said Battalion Chief Stefan Appehl.

The Life Guards battalion is conducting these exercises alongside the civilian guards.
