Syria: FM Mekdad meets newly-appointed Iranian counterpart

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad met his newly-appointed Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Damascus on Sunday.

According to the state news agency SANA, the two officials discussed developments in the region and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

The meeting comes one day following Abdollahian’s participation in the Baghdad summit, a regional conference aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East, hosted by the Iraqi government.
