Syria: Students and staff of Al-Baath University rally in support of Russia's military op in Ukraine

A rally in support of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine took place at Al-Baath University in Homs on Tuesday.

Participants can be seen marching and waving Syrian and Russian flags as well as holding posters showing Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On the morning of February 24, Kremlin announced a military offensive in Ukraine following requests for protection against “increased Ukrainian aggression” from the newly-recognised Donbass republics in East Ukraine.

On February 21, Putin had signed decrees recognizing the independence of the DPR (Donetsk People’s Republic) and LPR (Lugansk People’s Republic).

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has imposed martial law throughout the country and announced a general mobilization.

Russia’s military offensive has drawn international condemnation with the EU, UK, and US among countries and blocs to impose heavy sanctions on Moscow.
