A Turkish freighter has been intercepted and searched in the Mediterranean Sea.

Personnel from a German warship boarded the Turkish ship just off the coast of Libya.

The UN Security Council placed an arms embargo on Libya in February 2011.

Turkey has been accused of carrying out regular violations of the embargo.

Officials say the search team found no cargo that violated the UN sanction.

A Turkish government official said the German warship’s personnel boarded Rosalina-A without Turkey’s permission in violation of maritime laws.
