Terror in Vienna: Five Killed in Austrian Capital During Terrorist Shooting Spree

On Monday night, gunmen opened fire in six different locations in central Vienna, where locals were enjoying their last night out before the start of Austria’s second coronavirus lockdown.

At least five people were killed and 14 injured in the shooting spree, which started at about 8PM outside the city’s main synagogue that was closed at the time.

The Austrian Interior Minister has declared the incident an ‘Islamist terrorist attack’.

Police said they were not sure how many attackers were on the street. Several people have been arrested, but one of the perpetrators is believed to still be on the run.

Authorities warned the runaway is heavily armed and urged people to stay indoors, avoid public transport and the city centre.
