The Most Expensive Painting EVER Sold in Europe

Gustav Klimt’s ‘Dame mit Fächer’, or ‘Lady with a Fan’ in English has just become the most expensive painting ever auctioned in Europe. With buyer’s fees included it was sold for the equivalent of $104 million at Sotheby’s in London.

The painting was the last portrait Klimt ever completed before he died in 1918. Born in 1862 Klimt is famous for his bold Art Nouveau paintings.

But outside of Europe this isn’t the most expensive Klimt painting ever sold…
