This is the story of Hope as told by Hope’s mom:

Hope was rescued in July of 2020 from a shelter in Harbin, China, by Slaughterhouse Survivors. She was five months old when they found her. She had been intentionally starved and endured severe neglect. She was on the brink of death. She spent the next four months getting medical treatment receiving good nutrition, and most importantly, learning what love is.

I had been following her rescue and knew the moment they found her that she needed to be a part of our family. The organization that she was going to is called Road Dogs. I applied and heard back from them right away. Now we just had to wait. She arrived safely to LA on November 27th and was greeted by her amazing foster mom, Jen. We live on the East Coast. Hope made a three-and-a-half-day cross-country trek by car. And we picked her up a few days before Christmas. Our entire family is so in love with her. 

She does suffer from some medical issues as a result of the neglect. She had eye surgery about a month after we got her. She was healed beautifully and already is able to see so much better. She definitely suffers from some PTSD. She will wake up from a deep sleep, barking and scared. 

It breaks my heart to know what she has been through, but I’m so happy that we can provide a safe and loving environment for her for the rest of her life. Everybody keeps telling us how lucky she is to be a part of our family. But honestly, we are the lucky ones. She is a survivor and is living her best life.
