Thousand of lights illuminate Moscow ahead of New Year celebrations

More than 4,000 impressive light installations appeared in Moscow streets and parks ahead of the 2022 New Year celebrations.

People could be seen walking along shining arches and other installations in the Moscow park on Wednesday.

A 16 metre (52 foot) polar bear were amongst sculptures created by Italian craftsmen, using aluminium structures and foil tinsel in 2018.

According to the city administration, all the designs have already been used before but they were redesigned to match the holiday symbolism for the upcoming year.

“The Journey to Christmas” winter festival is being held in the capital between December 10 and January 9.
