Tiger Woods is ‘lucky to be alive’ after suffering multiple fractures of his right leg in a horrendous car crash that could have proven fatal, according to the LAPD.

The professional golfer swerved off Hawthorne Boulevard after hitting the centre median, and struck a tree before rolling over.

He is ‘lucky to be alive’ according to police, and was described as “awake and responsive” after the operation to insert a rod into his tibia and stabilize his ankle with pins.
