Taekwondo silver medalist Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi received a warm welcome upon his return from the Tokyo Olympics to Tunis, on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old athlete, who came in second in the 58kg category, was seen celebrating among dozens of his supporters.

Jendoubi had defeated South Korean Jang Jun, the 2019 world champion, in the semi-final match of the Tokyo Olympics, with a score of 25-19, but the Tunisian champion was not able to grab the gold in the final, as he lost to Italian Vito Delacila with a score of 12-16.

This medal is the second for Tunisia in this year’s Olympics, after Tunisian swimmer Ahmed El Hefnaoui won the gold in the 400 meters freestyle.
