Tensions rose high in Ankara on Wednesday, with vehicles seen set on fire following tensions between Turks and foreigners in the Onder and Battalgazi neighborhoods of the city.
The escalation followed reports of a knife fight, where a refugee allegedly stabbed two Turkish men, with one succumbing to wounds, according to reports. A group of Turkish locals descended into the neighborhoods where Syrian refugees allegedly reside.
Turkey hosts the largest number of refugees worldwide, with 3.6 million registered Syrian refugees, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
