Wembley Stadium is currently being used as a vaccination centre, after the UK government ramped up efforts to have the population jabbed prior to Christmas.
“This is part of the mass vaccination project where we choose a venue with a larger space so we can vaccinate as many people as we want,” said Dr Mohammed Haidar, lead GP for the vaccination programme in the London borough of Brent and Primary Care Networks director on Sunday.
Many people who received the vaccine shared their enthusiasm.
“I love the fact that such an iconic stadium is going to provide vaccination for all,” said Avnish after getting vaccinated.
The new vaccination sites are part of a larger project to vaccinate Londoners and fight the surge of cases of the novel coronavirus variant Omicron in the capital.
A record 906,656 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday, of those, 830,403 were boosters, according to NHS England.
