Manchester United’s coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer commented on the team’s last-minute 2-1 win against FC Villareal in a Champions League post-game press conference in Manchester on Wednesday.
Solskjaer was full of praise for Cristiano Ronaldo whose 95th-minute winner rescued the Red Devils from yet-another underwhelming result.

SOT, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United manager: “A very difficult game against a very good team. First half we had a lot of possession but they counter-attacked really well. Transition attacked quickly and created some big bog moments in the game. Thankfully we had the best goalkeeper in the world tonight. David was fantastic. Very happy with his performance. Second half, they had more of the ball. It was still open but they deserved to lead but you know, Old Trafford is magic. Champions League, Old Trafford sometimes that history helped us and tonight Cristiano came up with a good goal and Alex scored a fantastic goal.”

SOT, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United manager: “He’s done that so many times and when you saw him against Ireland a month ago, he missed a penalty early, didn’t touch the ball more or less and scored two great headers in the last two minutes. That’s just what he’s done throughout his career. He’s so strong mentally. He just stays in the game. I’ve seen him all day today the way he’s built himself up for this game. How focused he’s been and when he gets that one chance, it’s a goal. He had a couple of half-decent headers first half that could have ended up with chances. But, a true mark of a very, very good finisher is that he keeps calm when the chance arrives.”

SOT, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United manager: “It’s not easy to give just one because there’s many. Very very good team. But they come here with a belief, and the trust and the confidence to play football, technical football. Passes on the floor. The goal they scored for example was played straight through us. Very good patterns of play so, very well-coached team.”
