Ukraine: Retired law enforcement officers attempt to storm parliament during pension protest

Hundreds of retired law enforcement officers and former security forces members gathered to protest over higher pensions outside the Ukrainian parliament building in Kiev on Wednesday.

The police protecting the Verkhovna Rada reportedly deployed tear gas against the protesters as they attempted to force their way into the building.

After the protest, the Ukrainian Chamber of Ministers announced it will allocate a $194m (€164m) increase in pensions for military retirees this year.
