The United Nations condemned the latest launch of a North Korean ballistic missile, which left UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres feeling ‘very concerned,’ as his spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, reported in New York City on Tuesday.
Dujarric added that Guterres was renewing his call on the DPRK’s leadership ‘to comply fully with its international obligations.’
According to the UN, diplomatic engagement is ‘the only way to reach a sustainable peace and a complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.’
South Korean and Japanese authorities stated that North Korea appeared to test-fire a ballistic missile into North Korea’s eastern sea on Tuesday.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said that initial estimates were that the missile travelled more than 700 km (435 miles) to an altitude of 60 km at up to 10 times the speed of sound (12,348 km/h).

As we’ve said again, we are convinced and believe that diplomatic engagement is the only way to reach a sustainable peace and a complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”
