Unlikely companions - lemur rides turtle in St Petersburg zoo

Visitors and employees of the Leningrad Zoo in St. Petersburg became witnesses to an unusual friendship.

A few days ago zoo staff filmed a local lemur riding on the shell of a turtle named Bazilik.

The animals spend the third season together, and during this time they managed to become friends. Previously, lemurs only sat on turtles, but now they ride on the backs of their neighbours.

“It [the lemur] was interested, apparently, to check how it works. It really liked this kind of a vehicle, now it periodically rides on Bazilik [the turtle],” said Anastasia Kuzmina, an animal care worker in the Primates department of the zoo.

Anastasia also said that such trips are not felt by turtles at all. Most likely the animal did not even notice such a companion on its back.
