US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said it was “entirely up to Putin” to choose from proposed paths on Ukraine during remarks at the Fran Eizenstat and Eizenstat Family Memorial Lecture Series in Washington DC on Monday.

“One is the path of diplomacy and dialogue, and there we’ve proposed that there be meetings between us and Russia directly through something we call the Strategic Stability Dialogue,” he said.

“The sanctions that we put together include a number of things that we have not done in the past. They go well beyond them. And as a result, I’m confident – it’s maybe almost the wrong word to use – because look, no one wants to go down this path, which is ultimately up to President Putin,” he added.
