Manuel Oliver, the father of late Joaquin Oliver, a student killed during a shooting in the Marjory Stoneman High School in Parkland, Florida, was arrested after climbing up a construction crane in Washington DC on Monday, reportedly as part of a campaign to call for action against gun violence.
Oliver and a fellow protester were seen climbing down the crane as police officers were waiting on the ground to arrest them.
Manuel Oliver planned his action to make a statement in the fourth year since his son died in favour of gun reform in the US. David Hogg, a survivor of the Parkland shooting, was also reportedly present, giving interviews to the press.
